End of Cohost thoughts
So, today is October 3rd, 2024. Cohost is in read only mode and will be up until the year’s end.
I am a bit bummed out about the end of Cohost despite being a perpetual lurker. That being said, this is now my space for long-form thoughts and postings.
It’s also rough because there’s lots of rough things going on in the world right now. Between Hurricane Helene and the destruction it’s wrought, the chemical lab fire / explosion in Georgia, the Ongoing crisis in Palestine that is now becoming a crisis in Palestine and Lebannon. There’s a lot of bad things going on, and it’s hard to be hopeful about anything, especially with the election coming up.
I worry about the climate change and feel despair about how you can’t individually work your way out of what is a systemic issue.
I also do miss the community of Cohost. The longform posting of people who’s thoughts I’ve enjoyed reading. Be it about computers of videogames or the like, it’s stuff I’ve enjoyed reading in these trying times.
That being said, I’ve also been thinking a lot about Splatoon 3 as well. Since it’s not really over but it is over in terms of active content updates. That being said, it’s not dead in the water yet because people are still playing it and enjoying it.
I still play it and enjoy it between clawing my way up to X rank, salmon run, Side Order runs. It’s not dead yet.
Sometimes the bad times are simply times that are bad.
I do my best to keep my chin up, but it is hard to not worry in these trying times when it feels like we’re hurtling towards either societal collapse due to climate change or world war three. My little mantra is that one from animal crossing and hope that things will be better.
